A statement from Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor:
It’s time to Reignite Adelaide!
The City of Adelaide is supporting our city businesses including retail, hospitality, construction, events and arts and culture by attracting people back to the city, lowering costs and cutting red tape.
We are introducing measures which will make a real difference for business including:
- Free parking in the evenings and weekends in Council-owned U-Parks during September.
- Waiving permit and development application fees for pop-up activations until the end of September.
- Waiving permit fees for personal trainers to use City Squares and Park Lands for the next two months.
- 50% discount for construction related permit applications until the end of September.
- No up-front fees for city events for 12 months.
- A further investment of $100k in the City Business Support Package in partnership with Business SA and more.
As part of Reignite Adelaide, the City of Adelaide is also enabling hospitality businesses to expand their dining area for free on footpaths and on-street parking bays with a series of temporary pop-up parklets.
We are continuing to focus on creating unique and exciting precincts on our Main Streets with grants and improvements. In partnership with the State Government, we have provided grants of up to $10,000 to businesses on Hutt, Hindley, Melbourne, O’Connell and Rundle Streets to improve their outdoor areas to attract customers and expand their outdoor dining.
We are committed to being a dynamic city that is full of life and activity while also being the lowest cost Capital City for business.
It’s time to Reignite Adelaide and bring our city to life again and I look forward to seeing you back in the city soon.
Kind regards,
Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor
