With an emphasis on making dynamic training that is fun and innovative, Training for Learning Co (TLC) has been trading for around three decades and is a stalwart of the Hutt Street community.
Run by trainer extraordinaire Catherine Logue, the education centre, located above the Kodak photo shop at 186 Hutt Street offers a range of training, workshops and professional development run by carefully chosen trainers.
Catherine’s trainers all have demonstrated success in their industry fields, with her own background littered with accolades, successes and a wealth of experience.
“I did my training as a fashion buyer in retailing and purchasing,” she says. “Then I set up a wholesale and retail photographic business and Alan Logue was appointed as my rep when he moved from Melbourne. Eventually we got together and got married. So while I was running the retail business, I went back to study and I did my management diploma for retailing.”
The pair now run Hutt Street Photos at 186 Hutt with TLC on the top floor and the photo shop on street level; but prior to that, Catherine’s career trajectory took her from fashion to photos, to management, then to training and gifted her with knowledge across a range of business and service industries.
Using a range of techniques, innovations and resources that she has developed and utilised across her decades in the industry, what Catherine doesn’t know about training for learning is not worth knowing.
“We established an arm of the training school called Teaching Tools, where we develop props for people to train with. I’m not a traditional trainer. I’ve developed different card sets, for emotional intelligence, and some with an assessment grid, so it actually allows you to look at where you fit within the emotional intelligence model.,” Catherine says.
